Waiheke Island White by Goldwater 2007
SOLD OUT
Winemakers Notes
The season began with a great spring at the time of the Chardonnay flowering giving us an even fruit set on well balanced vines. We then increased concentration by thinning out any slower ripening bunches. This has helped to produce a very ripe style of wine.
| Wine: | Waiheke Island White by Goldwater (Chardonnay) |
The fruit was hand picked and whole bunch pressed with barrel fermentation using natural yeasts. The wine was matured in French oak on yeast lees with partial malo-lactic fermentation and weekly battonage for eight months before bottling.
The wine is a pale gold in appearance with intense aromas of ripe nectarine and peach supported by subtle oak and mealy barrel fermentation characters. A velvety and weighty texture, with stone fruit caramel and toasty flavours, balanced with fine acidity giving a long and intense finish.
To be enjoyed over the next 12-36 months.
